Academics

Students at UT Dallas learn to think differently, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems. As a Carnegie R1 classification university, it’s home to some of the state’s most highly-ranked business, science, and engineering programs while also offering a broad range of educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

UT Dallas offers a wide range of courses through its seven schools. Its 140+ academic programs are designed to give students a flexible, personalized path to a degree. The University Career Center helps students prepare for their careers by providing them with personalized advising, job fairs, and more. Students can also take advantage of AP credits and transfer credits to meet their core requirements.

Intercollegiate Athletics

The University participates in NCAA Division III athletics and fields 14 intercollegiate varsity teams for men and women. The college competes in the American Southwest Conference and also offers a nationally recognized coed esports program.

The college's sports programs are supervised by 13 head coaches, 6 of whom coach male teams and 7 who lead female teams. The amount of money a team makes or loses can vary quite dramatically by sport, which is why it's important to research the financial information specific to the sport you are interested in playing at UT Dallas.

In addition to varsity teams, the University hosts several club sports that are formed, organized, and managed by student leaders. Students can participate in these clubs to learn about leadership and build teamwork skills on their own schedule. The University also has a fitness center and intramurals to keep students active. The student body is made up of more than 300 organizations including 24 national Greek-letter fraternities and sororities.

Student Organizations

The university offers 300+ student organizations in areas such as academics, arts, and music, club sports, cultural, educational, honor, politics, recreation, religion, service learning, and spirit. New groups are continuously forming and UT Dallas' student organization center helps students find the group that best matches their interests.

Among the university's alumni are an Antarctic explorer and scientist who named an ice stream and mountain in Antarctica and Nobel laureate Aziz Sancar, who pioneered DNA repair techniques. Other notable alumni include a businessman and philanthropist and the founder of the first molecular nanotechnology company.

UT Dallas' athletic teams compete in the American Southwest Conference and NCAA Division III. Women's soccer and basketball have won ASC championships, and men's football and basketball advanced to the NCAA national playoffs during their inaugural season in 2002. UT Dallas also hosts a varsity wrestling team and esports competitions. The university's official colors are flame orange and brilliance white, with a hint of evergreen representing its Texas roots.

Student Life

UT Dallas has many student services to help students succeed in their studies. These services include academic/career counseling & wellness and job placement for graduates. UT Dallas also has an on-campus daycare center for its students and staff.

Students enjoy a rich college experience at the campus in Richardson. The university is undergoing a massive beautification project that will make it more attractive for students to study. The current phase involves enhancements to the central and south mall area, including four reflecting pools surrounded by magnolia trees. UT-Dallas was named a Tree Campus USA in 2017 and has more than 6,800 trees representing 65 species across the campus.
